Helping to Create New Beginnings, and aiding those in embarking on their dreams of parenthood is an amazing opportunity! This is a list of frequently asked questions. Should you have more concerns or curiosities, our Donor team is here for you! Check out the FAQs.
At the Fertility Institute of Hawaii, you may choose to donate more than once (up to 6 times); repeat donors can receive more than $25,000.00 in total compensation. No out-of-pocket costs are ever charged to the egg donor. Please Note: Egg donors who do not reside on Oahu, will not be compensated for travel costs, in addition to the stipend that is already being offered.
From the first initial interview with our Donor Nurse Coordinator, donors can expect about a two-month window of time until the completion of the cycle and for all testing to be performed. Once you are activated as a donor, a cycle takes approximately four weeks. You will be coming in for frequent appointments, arranged at times that can accommodate your schedule. These appointments will consist of blood draws and vaginal ultrasound to assess your ovarian reserve and response to the medications being given. You can expect to come in approximately 5-8 times for appointments.
Medications are given by injection and you will be instructed on proper administration. When you are ready for your egg retrieval, you will receive intravenous sedation by an anesthesiologist and the procedure is performed transvaginally to extract the mature eggs, guided by an ultrasound probe.
Fertility Institute of Hawaii partners with Donor Egg Bank USA, which is a national egg bank that provides frozen eggs to recipients across the U.S. When eggs are frozen immediately after retrieval, donors are provided with flexible scheduling options and times when they can donate. Donors do not have to wait until their cycles are synchronized with that of the intended recipient’s.
Word of mouth is by far the best advertising when it comes to finding qualified donors. Each time that you refer a donor to us and she completes a cycle, you will receive a $250 gift card to Ala Moana Shopping Center. There is no limit on the number of referrals that you can make. So, spread the word and enjoy a shopping spree on us!
