Understanding Success Rates

Dr. John Frattarelli, HCLD, is one of only a few physicians worldwide who is also certified as a High-Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD) and serves as the Laboratory Director for the Fertility Institute of Hawaii IVF Laboratory.  This allows him to provide oversight for all Clinical and Laboratory aspects of the IVF practice.

Under the direction of Dr. John Frattarelli, HCLD, the IVF program at the Fertility Institute of Hawaii attributes its tremendous success to a variety of factors including the experience and dedication of our physician and laboratory teams, individualized cutting-edge IVF protocols and treatments, world-class laboratory conditions and techniques and the use of novel technologies (such as preimplantation genetic testing and the EmbryoScope incubator) and research.

A comparison of clinic success rates may not be meaningful because patient medical characteristics, treatment approaches, and entry criteria for ART may vary for clinic to clinic. The Fertility Institute of Hawaii’s success rates are inclusive of outcomes from patients with all degrees of reproductive disorders and advanced age.

The discussion of IVF success rates is individualized for our patients by our providers at your consultation and follow-up visit.  While we have excellent overall success rates for our patients, your specific age-related success rate will vary based on many personal factors to include:

  • egg age
  • sperm age
  • ovarian abnormalities
  • uterine abnormalities
  • tubal abnormalities
  • hormone values
  • ovarian reserve
  • type of procedure performed
  • embryo quality and quantity
  • number of embryos transferred into the uterus with IVF
  • genetic testing of embryos

Your personal and individualized estimated success rate will be discussed with you during your visit after your provider has completed your evaluation.
