Anatte Karmon, MD, FACOG

Dr. Anatte Karmon specializes in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She joined the Fertility Institute of Hawaii after completing her training at Massachusetts General Hospital /Harvard Medical School. She is an expert at diagnosing and treating infertility and other endocrine disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), recurrent pregnancy loss, and endometriosis. She is board certified in Ob/Gyn as well as Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Dr. Karmon seeks to provide innovative, high-quality, and holistic care to the patients she serves. She offers a variety of treatment options to her patients based on their individual goals. She believes that care is most successful when patients are regarded as equal partners. Dr. Karmon prides herself on treating all patients with the utmost respect and compassion.

Education

Dr. Karmon attended the Medical School for International Health, a joint program between Columbia University in New York and Ben Gurion University in Israel. In addition to her rigorous traditional medical education, Dr. Karmon learned how to practice medicine in a variety of settings and cultures by spending time in rural India, the Israeli desert, and New York City.

Dr. Karmon completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Montefiore Medical Center of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. She was awarded the position of Administrative Chief Resident during her time there.

After her residency, Dr. Karmon completed her fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School. She is excited to bring the skill set she gained in Boston to Hawaii to provide the best possible care to patients at the Fertility Institute of Hawaii.

Research

Dr. Karmon has authored numerous publications on reproduction and fertility. Her award-winning research has been presented at national conferences across the country. Her most recent publications include the following topics:

  • Nutrition and fertility
  • Male factor infertility
  • The biology of uterine fibroids
  • Thyroid function and fertility
  • Pregnancy after bariatric surgery
  • Cultural differences in perceived etiologies of infertility

Expertise

Dr. Karmon is a member of several national societies.  She is on the planning committee of the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society.   Dr. Karmon is well-trained in all aspects of reproductive medicine and fertility treatment including ovulation induction, in vitro fertilization, and reproductive surgery. Her particular clinical interests include egg freezing, treatment of couples with unexplained infertility, treatment of women with diminished ovarian reserve, and treatment of women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Dr. Karmon has surgical privileges at Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women and Children, Queens Medical Center, and Castle Medical Center.
